What is Radio Dubroom?

ANSWER

Non-Stop DUB/Reggae mixes, selected and mixed by Messian Dread. The shows are stored on the Dubroom server in the form of MP3 files you can freely download. They feature the best of the online Dub community as well as releases the Dubroom is allowed to play, or ultra rare and out-of-print material that is interesting for some reason.

You go to radio.dubroom.org and click on the links. You will be directed to a page from where you can download the shows.

What is Radio Dubroom Extra?

ANSWER

You can say that this is the revival of the original Radio Dubroom, only bigger and better. Originally, Radio Dubroom was a streaming show that would feature "any" track, but in lo quality mp3. Radio Dubroom Extra is also a streaming only show that can feature "any" track, but unlike the original Radio Dubroom, this stream is High Quality.

Go to radio.dubroom.org/xtra.htm for the latest chapter. From that page you can browse through earlier chapters as well.

Is there a difference between the shows that I can download and Radio Dubroom Extra?

ANSWER

Yes, the difference is in the catalogue. Radio Dubroom Extracan feature any track we liked where the downloadable podcasts features a lot of music that's freely available on the Web, music that is reviewed on the website, or ultra rare and out-of-print. And then we have permission by a variety of labels and studio's to put their music on our shows.

A Long time ago Radio Dubroom was hosted on the LIVE365.com website. I remember you played "everything" and I could request about "any" track. Can I request tracks again, now that you have Radio Dubroom Extra?

ANSWER

You absolutely can! Simply go to contact.dubroom.org and drop us a line or two. Since we can put "anything" in the show and the Dubroom's catalogue is rather large, you can even suggest special themes like a specific artist, studio, label or style of Reggae. Leave your email in case you would like to be notified when your special request is there for you.

Why did you leave the LIVE365.com website in the first place and what is the difference with Mixcloud, where you seem to host your shows now?

ANSWER

We could no longer afford to pay the fees that LIVE365.com started to charge a few years ago. Even if we could, we also must consider the fact that most Royalty-collecting institutions do NOT even pay the artists, it's simply throwing money at the musical industrial complex that gives us names like Lady GaGa and who knows what more nonsensical stuff.

In other words, we were forced to pay money to an insitution that never pays most of the Reggae artists and producers and we do not feel like sponsoring the filth that you normally see on MTV and what have you.

We don't have that problem with MIXCLOUD.com.

QUESTION

Can I put your shows on my website or YouTube?

ANSWER

No, please don't. Even though some music is released under Creative Commons copyright, a lot isn't and we only have the permission to put it on the Dubroom website. In the case of Radio Dubroom Extra, the shows are not hosted on the Dubroom site and we only have permission to stream them from the MIXCLOUD.com/dubroom website.

Can I link to the Radio Shows, then?

ANSWER

Yes you can! You can even embed the chapters of Radio Dubroom Extra on your website, blog or forum.
